What's
up?!
Visiting scholar at China BoP
lab
A one-month stay at Tsinghua
university in Beijing was an eye opener to alternative ways to
engage private sector in development.
Considering the fact that China is one of the most successful countries
in alleviating poverty, the aim was to understand the Chinese approach
to BOP/rural innovations, with particular focus on the role of private
enterprises.
China experience was complemented with a visit to Hangzhou and a short
escape to Shanghai World Expo 2010. [ photos]

Growing
Inclusive Markets with UNDP
Starting with a workshop in
Bratislava, second phase of UNDP Growing Inclusive Markets initiative
was launched. It aims at demonstrating how business can significantly
contribute to human development by including the poor in the value
chain as consumers, producers, business owners or employees (‘inclusive
business models’).
I am invloved in this initiative as a research fellow, coordinating,
reviewing and analyzing cases from Middle East and North Africa. [link]
